TV Girl

Idia Aisien is currently the host of two television shows on Spice TV. The first, Style 101, is the Nigerian version of Fashion Police and the largest show on the channel; while the second, You Got Issues; is a show centered on relationships, love, abuse, career and other issues.

About

Beginning in 2007, Idia set out to study Journalism at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), before transferring to American University in Washington, DC, (AU) as a sophomore. At AU, she finished with a Degree in Journalism and minor in International Business. She got her first job as a writer for The Penn, IUP’s student paper, and subsequently started writing for The Eagle, AU’s student newspaper once she transferred. Her plans of becoming a writer soon changed after being encouraged to “try” broadcast journalism at an internship for the AARP magazine. She suddenly found her calling after working with major television companies like Fox 5 News in DC, and Discovery Communications in Silver Spring, Maryland.

After working with the Foreign Policy Initiative, an American think-tank that analyses foreign policy issues, Idia moved to New York City in 2012 to acquire a Masters in International Public Relations and Global Corporate Communications from New York University (NYU). While studying at NYU, she landed her dream job working for the Peace Building Commission of the United Nations. The commission focused on countries developing from conflict, and at the time, Idia focused on research and communications for Burundi, Central African Republic, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

In April 2014, she left the UN to work at Atlas Mara co-Invest Limited, a private equity firm focused on investing in Banks across Africa, where she worked as an Associate and reported to the Africa Team. She graduated from NYU later in 2014, and worked with the company for over a year before moving with the Africa team to Lagos, Nigeria, where she was offered to host a TV show focused on relationships and social issues called You Got Issues. In July 2015, Idia left the private equity firm and went back to doing what she loved the most–broadcast journalism.

Since joining Consolidated Media Associates as a Television Presenter on Spice TV–one of the company’s five channels–Idia has distinguished herself as a Top Television presenter in the Nigerian entertainment industry. On You Got Issues, she has, alongside seasoned professionals, discussed tough issues affecting many Nigerian families and singles regarding love, sex, marriage and so on; and also delved through challenges facing our society such as abuse, employment and other related topics.

The Style 101 Show is the premiere fashion police hub in Nigeria, which has featured some of the biggest names in entertainment, such as Ice Prince Zamani, Dj Obi, Poe, Banky W and much more. Not only does the show air in over 40 African Countries and have a cumulative viewership of Spice TV Africa’s 70 million viewers, but its recognition in other African countries such as South Africa, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Rwanda, has earned Style 101 the spot as one of the most watched shows on the channel.

From in-studio television hosting live game shows and events; Idia has proven to be multi-dimensional. She hosted the Mega Millions Lottery Draw from May 2016 to July 2017. She has also began anchoring  government-focused projects, TV Campaigns red carpet specials at the request of specific brands like United Bank of Africa, Globacom ltd (for the Laffta Fest and Mega Music Tour), the LIRS and GTBank.

Idia has been interviewed by major television platforms such as Rubbin Minds on Channels TV, Silverbird TV and Pulse TV. All of these platforms have highlighted her work, transition from corporate America to the African TV Landscape, and her quest for more.
